Sierra Vista Police Department has confirmed that Shawn Hodges, 46, of Whetstone, Arizona, was arrested in relation to this incident.
Authorities also want to make it very clear to the public that the second individual initially identified in surveillance images was investigated and determined to have NO involvement or ties to this burglary.

“Public tips lead to arrest of Feb. 2 burglary suspect
On Tuesday evening, the Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a suspect for a vehicle burglary that occurred on Monday, Feb. 2, in the local Walmart parking lot after members of the public provided tips that led to the suspect’s identification.
SVPD responded to a report of a vehicle burglary at Walmart at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday. The victim reported someone had entered their vehicle and stolen personal property, including a firearm.

‼️ Sierra Vista Police Department Arrests Hereford Man in Child Exploitation Case ‼️
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Sierra Vista Police arrested Terry Moyer, 46, of Hereford, Arizona, in connection with a case involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.
At this time, authorities do NOT believe this arrest is related to the separate arrest of Mark Berty of Hereford, according to information available.
According to the Sierra Vista Police Department:
“On Tuesday, the Sierra Vista Police Department arrested an individual for failing to register as a sex offender and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
At about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, SVPD became aware of a vehicle that had been placed on a hot alert list created by the SVPD associated with a wanted sex offender. After receiving the alert from Flock license plate readers near the intersection of SR 90 and SR 92, officers in the area quickly located the vehicle. Officers positively identified the wanted suspect, conducted a traffic stop on Highway 90, and arrested the suspect.
The investigation into the individual began in early January 2026 after detectives from SVPD’s Special Operations Bureau received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Officers identified the individual involved in the cyber tip and identified that he was residing in the Sierra Vista area. A criminal history check of the individual identified he was required to register as a sex offender in Arizona and had not properly registered.
The suspect was booked into the Cochise County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. A cell phone was secured from his person, and an evaluation of the device is pending a search warrant.”
Cases like this underscore the importance of cyber-crime reporting systems, proactive policing, and community vigilance. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
