SIERRA VISTA — Officials with the Sierra Vista Unified School District have confirmed that Buena High School athletic director and assistant principal Cole Colvin will be stepping down from his position, effective Friday, March 20, 2026.
District officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the resignation at this time.
This marks a notable leadership change at Buena High School.
Below is a letter from the Buena High School Principal sent to families of the school:
Dear Buena Families,
We are writing to share an update regarding a change in leadership at Buena High School.
Mr. Cole Colvin will be leaving his role as Assistant Principal effective March 20. Mr. Colvin has been on a Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) for the past several weeks, and we want to take a moment to sincerely thank him for his 11 years of service and dedication to our district and school community.
As we move forward, Mrs. Stefanie Miller and I will be supporting responsibilities in the athletic office, and our administrative team will work together to cover Mr. Colvin’s other duties. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continued support for our students and families.

Planned Outage Notice for Bowie and San Simon⚠️ SSVEC will be conducting a planned outage to replace a Gang Operated Air Break (GOAB) Switch, an important upgrade that will help improve system reliability and service for our Bowie / San Simon area members.
We expect the outage to begin Wednesday, March 18th, between 6pm and 7pm, and to restore power Thursday, March 19th, between 3am and 4am.
This outage may last up to10 hours, and we encourage you to plan ahead:
• If you rely on medical equipment that requires electricity, please make necessary backup arrangements.
• Prepare for expected weather conditions during the outage.

🚨 SVPD Seeking Public’s Help – Person of Interest Identified in March 9 Shooting 🚨
The Sierra Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help following a shooting that occurred on March 9, 2026.
Below is the official statement from SVPD:
“The Sierra Vista Police Department is seeking information on a person of interest in connection to the shooting on Busby Drive that occurred in the afternoon on March 9.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9, SVPD officers and detectives responded to the corner of Busby Drive and Sulger Street. During the investigation, they discovered information that led them to vehicle parked on the 900 block of Fry Boulevard. The vehicle was seized, and the owner was identified and interviewed.
Another individual believed to be involved in the incident had been residing at a residence on Jennifer Lane. A search warrant was served on both the vehicle, which was secured, and the residence, but the person of interest was not present.
SVPD is currently seeking 56-year-old Sierra Vista resident Jay Lee Price for information regarding the incident.
Individuals with information about Price’s whereabouts are asked to contact SVPD Detective Thomas Ransford at (520) 452-7500 or Thomas.Ransford@SierraVistaAZ.gov.”**

Cochise County has a poverty rate of 16.3%, and the Cochise County Food Network pantries and food banks work to provide food to neighbors who are struggling. 🚨 BREAKING: Semi Truck Fire in Benson 🚨
Crews are currently on scene of an active semi-truck fire near the Love’s gas station in Benson, AZ on Hwy 90.
At this time, initial reports indicate there are no hazardous materials involved, but emergency personnel are actively working to contain the situation.
The fire is believed to have started in the cab.
Drivers in the area should expect delays and possible traffic impacts—please use caution and avoid the area if possible while crews work to keep everyone safe.
