‼️ Gunfire Reported in Sierra Vista Neighborhood — Police Investigating Monday Afternoon Incident ‼️
Sierra Vista police are investigating a Monday (3/9/2026) afternoon shooting after several residents reported hearing gunfire in a neighborhood near Sulger Street and Busby Drive.
Officers later developed leads and located a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident.
Below is the official information released by the Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS
Sierra Vista, AZ – 03/10/26
The Sierra Vista Police Department is investigating a shooting after responding to reports of gunshots in the area of Sulger Street and Busby Drive on Monday afternoon.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Southeastern Arizona Communications received several calls from residents who reported hearing gunshots in the area. When SVPD officers initially responded to the area, they did not locate anyone involved in the incident.
During the follow-up investigation, SVPD officers identified the exact location of the shooting and developed leads as to the individuals involved in the incident. Additional officers and detectives from SVPD’s Special Operations Bureau responded, securing and processing the scene. They recovered evidence of the shooting from the scene.
Later Monday evening, a vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident was located in the 900 block of East Fry Boulevard. Damage to the vehicle consistent with being struck by bullets was identified. The vehicle was secured as evidence and is pending a search warrant to retrieve evidence of the incident.
SVPD treats all reports of gunfire or violence seriously and responds accordingly to ensure the safety of residents.

On March 6th and 7th 2026, Special Olympics Arizona Sierra Vista athletes, coaches, families, and supporters traveled to Mesa, Arizona for the 2026 Special Olympics State Basketball Tournament held at the Arizona Athletic Grounds—and what an incredible weekend it was!
First and foremost… WAY TO GO COYOTES AND ROADRUNNERS!
The Coyotes brought home SILVER MEDALS, and the Roadrunners earned an impressive FOURTH PLACE finish. Both teams played with heart, determination, and incredible sportsmanship, representing our community with pride every time they stepped on the court.
These athletes showed what Special Olympics is all about—teamwork, integrity, perseverance, and giving it your all. We could not be prouder of every single player who competed this weekend.
One of the most unforgettable moments for our athletes was the special police escort from the Hobby Lobby parking lot to the outskirts of Huachuca City, creating a truly exciting send-off that made everyone feel like champions before they even hit the court.
The weekend was packed with memories:
Friday: Evaluation games followed by a dance where the athletes filled the floor with smiles, laughter, and plenty of dancing.
Saturday: Medal rounds with each team battling through two hard-fought games.
While it was certainly a long weekend, it was one filled with joy, pride, and unforgettable moments for everyone involved.

🚨TRAFFIC ALERT🚨 Accident on HWY 90 and Giulio Cesare Ave, Sierra Vista.
According to officials, the crash happened when a blue Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound on Highway 90 ran a red light and collided with a white Chevy cargo van that was traveling southbound on Giulio Cesare with the green light.
The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was cited for the red light violation, which investigators say caused the collision.
Fortunately, no major or life-threatening injuries were reported, and no individuals involved required transport by medics to Canyon Vista Medical Center. Authorities also indicated that neither speeding nor intoxication appeared to be factors in the crash.

With a hint of coming weather, Mount Wrightson's distant silhouette found shelter from the glaring Sun's sinking globe.
I stood there, facing west, big sky pouring over me, watching day's ending argument. The only response I could offer was the gentle click-click of my camera's shutter - hoping that the right angles and settings were achieved.
Cruz, my Bronco Sport, spilled calming Celtic tunes over golden fields from his speakers, while shadow and light danced amongst the evening breezes.
Soon the colors would change, the shadows would deliver evening's veil of darkness, and the glow of March 8th would disappear into tomorrow.
That's the joy of presence - knowing that each moment, though fleeting, can be captured and frozen in a camera's belly, or a memory's archive.
With my memory often flawed, I'll default to Cam's chase for another evening's departure.

COCHISE COUNTY WX 03/09-03/13/2026: We will see a change in the weather pattern starting Monday with a chance of showers moving in through Tuesday mid-day, and then clearing out the rest of the week with sunny skies during the day and clear skies overnight the rest of the week. Look for daytime temps around 71 degrees warming up to around 81 by Thursday. Overnight lows will start out around 43 degrees and warm up to around 46 by thursday night.
