🏈🔥 HUGE NEWS F

🏈🔥 HUGE NEWS FOR TOMBSTONE HIGH SCHOOL! 🔥🏈

TOMBSTONE, Ariz. — Tombstone High School just scored a BIG win — and an even bigger opportunity could be ahead!

Tombstone High School has officially been selected as a $5K Fridays sweepstakes winner through T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program, earning $5,000 in funding for the school!

But here’s where it gets REALLY exciting…

🏆 TOMBSTONE IS NOW IN THE RUNNING FOR A FOOTBALL FIELD TRANSFORMATION VALUED AT $1 MILLION!

Head Football Coach Anthony Ciccariello applied for the program with hopes of improving the school’s football field, lighting and technology — creating a safer, more modern facility that reflects the pride of Tombstone and its surrounding community.

And this would be about much more than football.

Upgrades could help Tombstone expand livestreaming so alumni and families can watch from anywhere, attract regional events, support local businesses and create an improved community gathering place for youth sports, graduations and other events.

The competition is only getting started. More than $8.4 MILLION is up for grabs nationwide this year, including:

- $25,000 for 40 finalists
- $250,000 for four division champions
- $1 MILLION toward a football field transformation for ONE grand-prize winner!

The grand-prize winner will be announced November 12.

This is an incredible opportunity for Tombstone High School — and as the competition moves forward, there will be opportunities for the COMMUNITY to get involved and rally behind the Yellow Jackets!

When voting opens, Cochise County, let’s show them what happens when we get behind one of our own!

Congratulations to Tombstone High School, Coach Ciccariello, the student-athletes and the entire Tombstone community on the $5,000 win!

THIS COULD BE JUST THE BEGINNING!

HISTORIC PICK GAME THIS WEEK! Coolfmlive talks with current head coach Carlos Lopez of the Bisbee Pumas. He is in his third year leading the program for the 2026 season and Courtney Borquez the athletic director of Bisbee High School.

The Bisbee Pumas and Douglas Bulldogs play their annual "The Pick" rivalry football game this Friday night 7pm at Warren Ballpark in Bisbee.🏟️

The History Behind The Game Origins:

The rivalry began in 1906, making it one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the United States.

The Trophy: Teams play for "The Pick," a large, mounted copper mining pickaxe introduced as a traveling trophy in 1944 to honor the region's rich copper mining.
Douglas won the 155th meeting 25-0 in September 2025, reclaiming the trophy after it spent the previous year in Bisbee.

Douglas leads the all-time series in the historic "Pick" game against Bisbee with an 84-62-8 record.

⛈️ MONSOON WEATHER UPDATE: STORM CHANCES REMAIN TODAY

We’ll continue to see a strong chance for showers and thunderstorms across the region today as plenty of monsoon moisture remains in place.

After today, activity is expected to slow down somewhat. However, enough moisture will remain across the area to keep daily chances for isolated to scattered storms in the forecast through the middle of the week.

By the end of the week, things could become more active again. We’re also keeping a close eye on the tropics, where a potential push of additional moisture could help increase storm chances later in the week.

As always during monsoon season, conditions can change quickly. Stay weather-aware, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, and follow CoolFMLive for updates as conditions develop.

Monday has arrived.

Monday has arrived.

Maybe it found you rested and ready. Maybe it caught you standing beneath a heavy sky, wondering where you’re supposed to find the energy for another week.

Look toward the horizon.

Morning never waits for every cloud to move aside. It finds the smallest opening and pours itself through, lighting the fields, warming the earth, and reminding us that darkness doesn't need to disappear before we can begin.

And neither do our troubles.

We don’t have to solve the entire week this morning. We only need to find that first break in the clouds and take one determined step toward the light.

Have a great week everyone.

Deep breath... exhale.
Now let’s get moving.

Have you heard of Fi

Have you heard of First Responders Appreciation Day?

It’s an annual tradition put on at Stan Greer Millworks every year with the help of the community!

September 23rd will be our 11th year showing our local first responders that our community appreciates the sacrifices and risks they take every day.

What does it look like?

From 11am-2pm we host the event at The Old Door Shop, right next to Stan Greer Millworks.
5930 S Hwy 92, Hereford AZ

The community comes together with volunteers to provide 150 swag bags and lunches to eat on the go, or on site if they have the time.

All first responders that sign up are entered into a raffle with tons of cool prizes from Meta glasses to gift certificates. Last year one lucky first responder won a brand new quad!

There are also games (like tug of war, relay races, or push up contests) with prizes and, of course, bragging rights.

We would love for the community to help us make it great this year as well.
If you would like to be a part of this year’s First Responders Appreciation Day there are a few ways you can help!

Remember: 100% of money and item donations go to First Responders.

Raffle items:
Last year we had 101 items to raffle off! You can donate any new item, or a gift certificate, to be raffled off.

Swag bag donations:
We are planning for 150 swag bags, so you can donate 150 small items (pens, stress balls, coupons, etc.) which can be branded with your company information to help share your business.

Monetary donations:
Any monetary donations will go toward paying for raffle items, prizes, or food for the first responders. Monetary donations of $200 or more come with extra perks to promote your business. For more information, please reach out by email at info@theolddoorshop.com

One way you can help for free is by sharing this post or letting people know about First Responders Appreciation Day. Whether they’re a first responder who can participate in receiving some cool stuff or someone who wants to give them cool stuff.

Thank you to those of you who have already volunteered and donated! We can’t do this without the support of our community. ❤️💙

‼️ BARRICADED SU

‼️ BARRICADED SUSPECT IDENTIFIED FOLLOWING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT IN SIERRA VISTA ‼️

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — The individual arrested following a barricade and domestic violence incident Saturday morning on Kings Way has been identified as 30-year-old John Lopez.

The incident began at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, when Sierra Vista Police Department officers responded to the 90 block of Kings Way after a 911 caller reported hearing screaming from inside an apartment.

According to police, officers were able to get a female occupant to safety before Lopez barricaded himself inside the apartment. The Regional SWAT Team and negotiators responded, and the suspect was ultimately taken into custody using less-lethal tactics.

The Sierra Vista Police Department issued the following press release regarding the incident:

“Sierra Vista, AZ. 08/30/26. A barricaded suspect was arrested in a domestic violence incident yesterday after police used less lethal tactics to take him into custody.

On Saturday, August 29, at about 7:45 a.m., police responded to the 90 block of Kings Way for a report of a domestic violence incident. The 911 caller reported that they could hear screaming from inside an apartment.

When officers arrived on scene, they could also hear screaming from the apartment. They made contact with a female occupant and were able to get her to safety. A male occupant subsequently barricaded himself inside the apartment.

The victim was transported to the hospital for assessment and treatment of her injuries.

Due to the circumstances of the case and the barricaded suspect, a perimeter was established and the Regional SWAT Team responded with negotiators. Using less lethal tactics, the male subject was taken into custody. He received non-life-threatening injuries and was medically cleared for incarceration.

The suspect was booked into the Cochise County Jail for domestic violence charges including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, kidnapping, preventing the use of 911 in an emergency, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and two failure to appear warrants.”

CoolFMLive will continue to follow this case and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
