WILLCOX AZ STORM CAUSES POWER OUTAGES AND DOWNED LINES AND POLES

So far, SSVEC crews have identified 33 transmission poles and 10 distribution poles down. Willcox Fire-Rescue (R331, E332) responded to a power line emergency near W. Old Stewart Rd. and N. Circle I Rd. involving a broken utility pole. Additional downed power lines have also been reported on Nickels Rd., Hardy Rd., and Saguaro Rd.

Our teams are currently assessing the extent of the damage and working to safely restore power where possible. Please note that additional damage may be identified as assessments continue, which could impact restoration timelines. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

For your safety and the safety of our crews, please stay well away from all downed poles and power lines. Always assume any downed line is energized and dangerous.

🚨 SIERRA VISTA MAN ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE CHILD SEX-RELATED CRIMES 🚨

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — The Sierra Vista Police Department announced Monday that 31-year-old Damien Stack was arrested the evening of Friday, August 7, 2026 following an investigation into allegations involving multiple child sex-related crimes.

The following press release from the Sierra Vista Police Department is published in full and verbatim:

“Sierra Vista, AZ. 08/10/26. A Sierra Vista resident was arrested Friday evening for multiple child sex related crimes.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, the Southeast Arizona Communications Center (SEACOM) received a report from a mandated reporter at a local school regarding an alleged child molestation that occurred at a private residence. The report was not related to any incident at the school, nor did it involve any school employee. Officers responded to the school, spoke to the employee who reported the alleged crimes, and arranged for child forensic interviews with several children believed to be aware of the incidents.

Then on Friday, Aug. 7, after the interviews, officers and detectives from the Sierra Vista Police Department Special Operations Bureau secured additional evidence, including texts messages on a digital device of the victim. Officers secured a search warrant for a Sierra Vista residence and arrested the suspect. Numerous items containing further digital evidence were secured.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the Cochise County Jail for sexual assault, sexual conduct with a minor, child molestation, aggravated luring of a minor for sexual conduct, and luring a minor. All of the charges allege a dangerous crime against children as outlined in ARS 13-705.

Anyone with information relevant to the abuse of children is asked to contact the Sierra Vista Police Department at (520) 452-7500.”**

Suspect identified: According to information released by authorities, the suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Damien Stack.

The allegations are accusations at this stage, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

FORT HUACHUCA & SEACOM JOIN FORCES TO STRENGTHEN EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN COCHISE COUNTY

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — A new partnership between Fort Huachuca and the Southeastern Arizona Communications Center (SEACOM) is set to strengthen emergency communications and public safety both on the installation and throughout the surrounding community.

After more than two years of negotiations, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Huachuca and SEACOM officially signed an Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA) on Thursday, August 6.

Garrison Commander Col. M. Dervan Hughes and Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels signed the agreement at the SEACOM Conference Room in Sierra Vista.

Under the agreement, SEACOM will provide Fort Huachuca with part-time emergency dispatch services, including the handling of 911 calls.

SEACOM will provide these services:

• Monday through Friday from 10 PM to 6 AM
• 24 hours a day on weekends
• 24 hours a day on federal holidays

Before the partnership is fully implemented, Fort Huachuca and SEACOM will work to integrate their emergency communication systems. That process includes coordinating radio frequencies, establishing interoperable radio communications and ensuring 911 calls originating from Fort Huachuca can be properly routed to and processed by SEACOM.

The agreement is expected to improve efficiency while strengthening coordination between military and local emergency responders — an important step for a community where Fort Huachuca and Cochise County agencies regularly work side by side.

Sheriff Mark Dannels called the partnership “community policing at its best” and emphasized its significance for public safety in a rural county.

The agreement carries an initial one-year term and can be renewed annually for up to nine additional years. Fort Huachuca currently maintains six Intergovernmental Support Agreements with local partners and another four with regional partners.

This new partnership represents another major connection between Fort Huachuca and the surrounding community — bringing military and local resources together with the shared goal of improving emergency response, public safety and readiness across Cochise County.
