Poke (pronounced "POH-kay") is a traditional Hawaiian dish of diced, raw fish, most commonly ahi tuna, marinated in seasonings like soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions, and served as an appetizer or over rice in a bowl. While traditional versions are simple, modern poke bowls often include a variety of toppings like avocado, cucumber, edamame, and spicy mayo, reflecting Japanese and other influences.
Key components
Fish: Sashimi-grade ahi tuna is classic, but salmon, octopus (tako), and even tofu are used.
Marinade: A base of soy sauce (shoyu), sesame oil, and green onions is common, with variations adding ginger, chili, or other ingredients.
Traditional additions: Sea salt, sweet Maui onions, and seaweed (limu) are traditional Hawaiian additions.
Modern additions: Avocado, edamame, masago (fish roe), and spicy mayo are popular additions, especially in poke bowls.
Serving: It can be eaten on its own, as an appetizer, or as a main course in a bowl, often served over rice.
How it differs from sushi
Origin: Poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish, while sushi originates from Japan, though poke has heavy Japanese influence.
Preparation: Poke involves dicing and marinating raw fish, whereas sushi typically involves vinegared rice and often includes other ingredients like seaweed (nori) and wasabi.

🔥🏀 WHAT A RUN, ARIZONA 🏀🔥
The Arizona Wildcats gave us a season to remember 😤 From the first game to the FINAL FOUR, this team showed heart, grit, and straight up dominance 💪
Cool FM was on location soaking it all in 🎤🔥 The energy, the fans, the moments… unreal. This is what college basketball is all about 🙌
Tonight didn’t go our way 💔 No sugarcoating it… this one hurts. Falling just short of a championship appearance is tough, especially after a run this special 😮💨
But let’s keep it real 👇
FINAL FOUR is HUGE 🏆
That’s not a loss… that’s a statement to the entire country 🌎
And the scary part? This is just the beginning 👀
Next season is already looking dangerous with the potential addition of Bryce James once that redshirt is up ⏳ Pair that with the legacy of LeBron James and you already know the spotlight is coming with it 🌟
Arizona is building something special 🐻⬇️
This loss is fuel 🔥
Next season is revenge 😤
👇 FINAL SCORE 👇

01:09 AM Update 04/05/2026:
We can confirm the North Mescal Road railroad crossing is back open and people are getting through. We ask that you use extreme caution in the area over night and early in the morning as crews have personnel and equipment scattered along both sides of the roadway as they pick up the rail cars and containers.
23:59 Update 04/04/2026:
More heavy equipment is arriving on-scene along with railroad personnel. The North Mescal Road crossing is still blocked and we have no definitive timeframe of when it will be reopened
That is the most recent update we have been provided with for the night.
———
21:00 Update:
Fire Chief Nied has been working closely with Union Pacific Railroad and Cochise County Emergency Management. The priority is to break apart rail cars that are still on the track and are stable enough to safely move along the rail which will hopefully result in the North Mescal Road crossing being opened.
At this time, they are estimating two and a half hours (11:30 PM).
🚂⚠️ TRAIN DERAILMENT ON NORTH MESCAL ROAD AREA ⚠️🚂
Mescal-J6 Fire District Facebook page release:
Union Pacific Railroad has reported that a westbound train on the north track at the sharp turn west of Mescal Road has derailed, resulting in the Mescal Road crossing being blocked.
We are collaborating closely with the railroad to expedite the resolution of this situation.
Currently, there is no hazardous materials release or threat to public safety; however, the crossing remains inaccessible, and travel in the area will be impacted for an unknown duration.
We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available or when the crossing is reopened.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The railroad we are told had been working on this portion of the track for the past month.
