🕊️ CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ARTHUR WILL HARRIS 🕊️

The Bisbee community is coming together to honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many.

Arthur Will Harris, a proud Bisbee native, was called home to the Lord on April 16, 2026. Known for his generosity, kindness, and deep-rooted love for his community, Arthur leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. From supporting local school events to contributing to Bisbee Little League, his impact could be felt across generations. He was also a dedicated member of the American Legion and a graduate of Bisbee High School, Class of 1969.

Arthur was more than a familiar face—he was a pillar of the Bisbee community. Someone who showed up, gave back, and made a difference wherever he could.

Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to come together to celebrate his life:

The ranch house has been standing in that field for over a century. The light falling from that core of the Milky Way left its source around 26,000 years ago - when the first humans were painting bison on cave walls in what would become France.

The photons that settled onto Cam's sensor that early morning had been traveling the whole time, patient, indifferent to whether anyone would be there to catch them.

And so there I was - coffee sipped down to a dry cup. Cam on a tripod, shutter open. That's the path my mind finds worthy of sitting with on a Saturday morning.

Not the size of it - everyone reaches for the size, and size alone tends to flatten people rather than lift them. The thing that actually moves, if you let it, is the timing. The improbable, almost absurd coincidence of a light path that began before written language and ended on a piece of silicon held steady by a retired Sergeant Major outside an old adobe house in southern Arizona on a particular clear night.

Those photons had one destination.
This one.
No other.

The ranch house doesn't know any of this. The tree doesn't. The grass in the foreground doesn't. Awareness, in this frame, is carried entirely by the photographer and whoever stands in front of the image later. We are - as far as we can tell - the part of the universe that noticed. That's not a small job, and it's not a job the cosmos seems to have distributed widely.

So the hope is not that we are significant because we are large. We are not. The hope is that significance and size were never the same thing to begin with. A candle in a cathedral is still the only thing giving off light.

The capacity to see this - to stand in a field at 2 a.m. and recognize that the smear of dust across the sky is our own neighborhood seen from the inside - is the rarest thing in the photograph.

Rarer than the galactic core.
Rarer than the ranch house surviving the weather of a hundred winters.

Someone will open their phone this morning, scroll past a hundred images engineered to provoke them, and land on this one.

For a few seconds the engineered noise will go quiet. They will feel something they can't quite name. That feeling is not nostalgia and it is not escape. It is recognition. A small part of the universe recognizing a larger part of itself, and being briefly, genuinely glad to be here.

That's the offering here. I won't... I can't tell you what to do with it. The image already made its argument the moment the shutter closed, and your eyes opened wide...
