Schlotzsky’s in Sierra Vista will permanently close its doors tonight, August 12, at 9 PM.

For many in our community, Schlotzsky’s has been more than just a place to grab a sandwich. It’s been a familiar stop for lunch breaks, family meals, conversations with friends, and countless everyday moments that became memories along the way.

As the team prepares to serve customers for the final time, we encourage our community to come down today, show them some love, grab one last meal, and thank the employees who have served Sierra Vista over the years.

ABOUT THE FILM

“Bountiful” follows retired gunfighter Tash Beckett, who hopes to leave his past behind and begin a new life in the quiet town of Bountiful. But when old scores return, Beckett is forced to confront the life he thought he had escaped.

Director Paul Winters describes the film as a classic Western centered around accountability, forgiveness and the possibility of redemption.

THANK YOU SSVEC‼️Not all heroes wear capes; sometimes it's hard hats and a little voltage in your blood.

Powerful straight-line winds between 70 and 100 mph came through a swath of Willcox on Monday night, August 10th, causing extensive damage and leaving many without power due to numerous downed power lines. One resident of 30 years noted she has never seen anything like it, and an SSVEC foreman remarked that he had never seen so much devastation concentrated in one area during his entire career.

SSVEC reported approximately 60 downed poles, including transmission lines. Fortunately, electric company crews came from all over to help, including neighboring Arizona co-ops such as Mohave Electric, Trico, and Graham. Additionally, AEPCO contributed a generator to keep the town's water system running.

As SSVEC CEO Jason Bowling told Coolfmlive , engineering staff, clerks, member service reps, the marketing team, and the executive team have all pitched in to check on members, deliver water, and feed the crews. This was an incredible storm, but it has been matched by an incredible community stepping up to rebuild.

Work update from Wednesday August 12th from SSVEC:

WILLCOX OUTAGE UPDATE 6:45pm — WEDNESDAY EVENING

Crews continued making good progress today in the Willcox area, and we want to provide members with an update on restoration efforts and what to expect in the days ahead.

The map below identifies the major outage areas referenced in this update.

✅ INGRAM AREA — RESTORED

All repairs in the Ingram outage area were completed, and affected members were fully restored late Tuesday afternoon.

✅ DEARING AREA — RESTORED

Repairs in the Dearing outage area were completed, and affected members were restored Tuesday night.

🟢 HARDY AREA — RESTORATION CONTINUES

Crews completed enough repairs Tuesday night to restore the northern portion of this outage along Hardy Road.

Work continues this evening on the remaining sections south of Hardy Road, with crews working toward restoring power to the remaining affected members Wednesday night.

🟡 NICKELS / SAGUARO AREA — MAJOR REBUILD CONTINUES

A small section of the damage along Nickels Road was repaired and restored early Wednesday morning.

The damage along Saguaro Road is extensive and complex. This area includes both transmission and distribution lines, making the rebuilding process especially time-consuming.

After crews spent Tuesday clearing wreckage and making the area safe for workers and residents, today’s work focused on staging materials and beginning the installation of new poles. Approximately 10 wood poles have now been set, and crews will continue setting additional poles into the night.

Work will continue Thursday, including setting the remaining wood and ductile iron poles. Our goal is to re-energize the feeder by the end of the day Thursday, which would allow us to restore power to additional members, including those in undamaged portions of East Saguaro Road and North Circle I Road.

Re-energizing the feeder will be an important milestone, but it will not mean every affected member is immediately restored. Crews will still need to repair secondary damage, including damaged transformers and individual services.

Members who live near the heavily damaged area along Saguaro Road should prepare to remain without power into Friday, with some restoration potentially extending into Saturday, as crews work through those remaining repairs.

We know this has been an incredibly difficult and prolonged outage for the members who remain without power. Our SSVEC crews and mutual-aid partners continue working long hours, including into the night, to safely rebuild the system and restore every remaining member.

We greatly appreciate the patience, understanding and support our members and the Willcox community have shown throughout this restoration effort.

The City of Willcox has opened the City Council Chambers to the public as a cooling center for community members who remain without power. We greatly appreciate the City’s support of our community during the restoration effort.

AND Kimzey Road in Willcox is closed from MP 4.5 to MP 7.5 due to flooding.
