‼️TWO SEPARATE DEATH INVESTIGATIONS UNDERWAY IN PEARCE AREA‼️
PEARCE, Ariz. — Two separate death investigations are underway in the Pearce area following incidents reported Thursday morning, September 3, 2026.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff, shortly after 8 a.m., the agency was contacted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety after a 58-year-old woman was found deceased in the front yard of a residence on Shepherd Hills Road.
At the time, DPS personnel were already in the area of Highway 181 investigating a separate incident involving a male pedestrian who had reportedly been struck by a vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During that investigation, a woman went to a residence on Shepherd Hills Road to check on her 58-year-old friend, who lived at the home. She discovered her friend apparently deceased in the front yard and left to seek assistance.
The woman subsequently encountered a DPS officer in the area and directed the officer to the residence. DPS then contacted the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
CCSO deputies and officers with the Willcox Police Department responded and confirmed the woman’s death.
Authorities stressed that the two deaths are currently being investigated separately. DPS is handling the investigation involving the deceased male near Highway 181, while CCSO is investigating the death of the woman on Shepherd Hills Road.
Sheriff Mark Dannels said investigators are still working to determine exactly what occurred and cautioned against speculation while both investigations remain active.
“At this stage, we have more questions than answers,” Dannels said, asking the community to allow investigators time to establish the facts and rely on confirmed information rather than assumptions or rumors.
The investigation into the woman’s death remains active and ongoing. Next of kin notification has not been completed, and her identity is not being released at this time.
Additional information is expected to be released as investigators confirm the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

‼️BREAKING: BISBEE–DOUGLAS GAME IN QUESTION AS VANDALISM INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Bisbee Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McBeth has announced that Bisbee High School’s bonfire scheduled for this evening 9/2 was canceled as authorities continue investigating vandalism discovered at Douglas High School’s athletic field.
In a message to families and staff, McBeth said Douglas law enforcement is actively investigating the vandalism, including whether individuals associated with Bisbee High School may have been involved.
No determination of responsibility was announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
McBeth said Bisbee Unified School District is cooperating fully with the investigation and encouraged anyone with information to contact local law enforcement.
“We want to be clear that this type of behavior does not reflect the values of Bisbee High School or our school community,” McBeth stated.
The district is also assessing other activities scheduled in the days leading up to the Bisbee vs. Douglas football game, including the game itself, according to the superintendent.

‼️SUSPICIOUS MESSAGE PROMPTS INCREASED LAW ENFORCEMENT PRESENCE AT BISBEE HIGH SCHOOL‼️
BISBEE, Ariz. — Law enforcement agencies responded to Bisbee High School Wednesday after school personnel discovered a suspicious message in a bathroom indicating that an event may occur on September 2nd.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, the Bisbee Police Department was notified and additional personnel from both agencies were stationed at the school as a precaution. U.S. Border Patrol agents also responded during the afternoon after receiving separate information potentially indicating an active shooter situation.
Authorities determined there was no active shooter situation at Bisbee High School.
Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff issued the following statement:
“At this time, there is no indication of an active shooter or other dangerous criminal activity occurring at Bisbee High School, nor is there information indicating that a dangerous event was planned for September 2 or any future date. The investigation into the origin and circumstances surrounding the suspicious message remains ongoing.”
Bisbee Police Chief Tim Cox said law enforcement’s priority was keeping the school safe while determining the credibility and origin of the information.
Cochise County Sheriff Mark J. Dannels emphasized that information involving potential threats to schools will be taken seriously and investigated, while reiterating that there is currently no indication of an active shooter or identified threat to the school or community.
The investigation into the suspicious message remains active, and no further information is available at this time.

ELFRIDA, Ariz. — The Valley Union High School District Governing Board is scheduled to meet tonight, Wednesday, September 2, at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting comes amid increased community attention surrounding Valley Union High School and recent concerns that have been raised regarding the district and its athletic program.
Superintendent/Principal Elizabeth Hawkins recently released a statement addressing several of those concerns and encouraging community members to communicate with the district and follow the appropriate process when bringing concerns forward.
Given that a number of claims currently circulating within the community have not been independently verified, CoolFMLive will not characterize those claims as fact.

Carmichael Celebrates 70 Years — and You’re Invited!
For 70 years, Carmichael Neighborhood School has been a special part of the Sierra Vista community, serving generations of students and families. This September, we’re celebrating that history, the people who helped build it, and the generations of Bears who have called Carmichael home.
Carmichael’s story began in 1956. The school was named in honor of William Carmichael, whose wife, Margaret Carmichael, donated the land on which the school was built. Today, William Carmichael’s portrait is still proudly displayed in the school’s front lobby—a connection between Carmichael’s beginnings and the thousands of students who have walked its halls over the past seven decades.
Now, it’s time to celebrate 70 years of Carmichael!
Join us on Wednesday, September 30, for a day filled with history, community and plenty of Bear pride. The celebration will begin with a special BBQ for current Carmichael students, followed by a Ribbon Cutting and Time Capsule Ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
After the ceremony, we’re opening the celebration to the community with a 70th Anniversary Block Party! 🎉 Current and former students, staff, families, friends and community members are invited to come together and celebrate seven decades of memories, learning and community at Carmichael.
We also want our community partners to be part of the celebration! Local businesses, organizations, agencies and community groups are invited to host a table or booth during the Block Party. It’s a great opportunity to connect with families, share what your organization does and help us celebrate this milestone.
