WEEKLY WEATHER OUTLOOK: MONSOON CHANCES CONTINUE

We begin the week with a Flash Flood Watch in effect through this evening as the potential for heavy rainfall moves across Cochise County. While not everyone will experience flooding, storms that develop today could produce intense rainfall in a short amount of time, making localized flooding possible in low-lying areas, washes, and roadways.

Looking ahead, daily chances for showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast throughout the week as the monsoon pattern continues across southeastern Arizona. Residents can expect periods of sunshine mixed with afternoon and evening storm chances each day.

Temperatures will remain comfortable for this time of year, with daytime highs near 90 degrees and overnight lows in the upper 60s, offering a welcome break from the more intense summer heat.

If you have outdoor plans this week, keep an eye on the forecast each afternoon, as storm development can change quickly. Remember, Turn Around, Don’t Drown—never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

This weekly weather outlook is proudly sponsored by Vista Pros Heating & Cooling, proudly serving Cochise County with dependable heating and cooling solutions all year long.

Another Monday:

The sky doesn't apologize for the storm.

It embraces the darkness, releases its energy, and then makes way for new growth.

We all face seasons that rumble louder than we'd like. Yet it's often those very seasons that shape our character, deepen our roots, and reveal a strength we didn't know we had.

Whatever this week holds, meet it with courage. The storm is never the whole story.

Wishing you a week of resilience, hope, and unexpected moments of light. 🌩️☀️🎙️

Ramsey Canyon Inn Tu

Ramsey Canyon Inn Turns the Page: Lawsuit Dismissed, Property Sold, New Owners Introduced ‼️

After months of legal battles, public attention, and uncertainty surrounding the future of the Ramsey Canyon Inn, one of Cochise County’s most well-known bed-and-breakfast destinations is officially beginning a new chapter.

The controversy began when Cochise County filed a lawsuit against Ramsey Canyon Inn, alleging the property was operating weddings and other large commercial events beyond what was permitted under its special use permit. The dispute drew significant attention throughout the community and ultimately led the inn’s owners to file an $18.5 million notice of claim against Cochise County, alleging the county’s actions had caused substantial financial damages and harmed the business.

Now, that legal dispute has come to an end. Court filings show the parties have agreed to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, meaning the claims cannot be brought before the court again. While the dismissal concludes the litigation, it does not determine fault or liability by either party. During the case, the property had been limited to operating as an eight-room bed-and-breakfast while the legal proceedings were ongoing.

The property itself has also changed hands. Ramsey Canyon Inn officially sold on June 18, 2026, for $740,000, marking the beginning of a new era for the iconic destination.

The new owners, Brice and Christy Semmens, recently introduced themselves to the community, expressing their excitement about carrying on the inn’s legacy.

The couple describes themselves as lifelong birders, ecologists, and marine biologists who first visited Ramsey Canyon more than 30 years ago as college students. Since then, they have returned many times and say they are honored to now become part of the inn’s history.

According to the Semmens, their goal is to preserve the traditions that made Ramsey Canyon Inn a beloved destination while renewing its focus on what has long drawn visitors from around the world: the incredible birding, wildlife, peaceful atmosphere, and natural beauty of Ramsey Canyon.

For many in Cochise County, the sale marks the close of a chapter that generated considerable discussion and legal controversy. With the lawsuit resolved, new ownership in place, and a vision centered on nature and hospitality, Ramsey Canyon Inn is looking ahead to its next chapter.

Have you ever visited Ramsey Canyon Inn or explored Ramsey Canyon? Share your favorite memories and let us know what you think about the inn’s new beginning.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT NEEDED NOW‼️

⚾️ Douglas Juniors Little League Team Need Our help to Reach Regionals 🧢 only $1700 has been raised to have team go to regionals in Bens Oregon after winning state on Friday. There first gane is Thursday at 10am. They are considering camping at this point if they must.

Hi, my name is Cynthia Calhoun, treasure for Douglas Little League.

We are incredibly proud of all of our All-Star teams! This year, Douglas Little League had three teams representing our community at the Arizona State Tournament.

First, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors and to everyone who supported our fundraiser tournament, scratch ticket fundraiser, and concession stand throughout the season. Because of your generosity, we were able to rent three Airbnbs for our teams and provide groceries and daily meals for our players and coaches during the State Tournament. Your support made a tremendous difference, and we are truly grateful.

Now, we're asking for your support once again.

Our Juniors Baseball All-Star team has earned the opportunity to represent Douglas Little League at the Regional Tournament in Bend, Oregon! This is an incredible accomplishment, and we couldn't be more proud of these young athletes.

Unfortunately, due to a weather delay last Saturday, the Arizona State Championship game was postponed and rescheduled for tonight, July 17, 2026, instead of July 15. Because of this unexpected delay, we now have only two days to raise the funds needed to send our boys to Oregon. The Regional Tournament begins on July 22, 2026, and all travel arrangements—including flights, van rental, and lodging—must be finalized by Monday.

Due to the limited time between the State Tournament and Regionals, we are unable to hold our normal fundraising events. That is why we are reaching out to our amazing community for help in making this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity possible for our players.

If you are able to help, no matter the amount, we kindly ask that you make a donation using the Douglas Little League Square donation link. Every contribution will go directly toward helping our team reach Regionals and proudly represent Douglas, Arizona.

All funds raised will be used by Douglas Little League to help cover tournament expenses for our Juniors Baseball All-Star team. Any remaining funds after the tournament will remain with Douglas Little League and will be used toward next season's league chartering fees and insurance, ensuring they continue to benefit our players and the future of our league.

💧SAN PEDRO RIVER COMES BACK TO LIFE AFTER MONSOON RAINS💧

The power of Arizona’s monsoon season is on full display.

After months of concern over dry conditions throughout the San Pedro River watershed, recent monsoon storms have brought a welcome surge of flowing water back to the river. This video, captured on July 18, 2026, showcases the San Pedro River running once again—a promising sight for one of the Southwest’s most important riparian ecosystems.

While it will take continued rainfall and time for the watershed to fully recover, scenes like this offer hope that this year’s active monsoon season is helping replenish the river, support local wildlife, recharge groundwater, and restore the landscape after an exceptionally dry start to the year.

Nature has an incredible way of reminding us just how resilient it can be.

Have you visited the San Pedro River lately or captured any photos or videos of the recent monsoon runoff? We’d love to see them—share them in the comments below!

U.S. HOUSE PASSES BI

U.S. HOUSE PASSES BILL TO MAKE DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME PERMANENT‼️ Where do you stand⁉️

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation that would end the twice-yearly clock changes and make daylight saving time permanent across much of the country.

The House approved the Sunshine Protection Act on Tuesday, July 14, by a bipartisan vote of 308–117. Under the proposal, participating states would remain on daylight saving time throughout the year, providing more daylight during the evening hours and eliminating the traditional “spring forward” and “fall back” clock changes. (House Committee on Energy and Commerce)

Supporters of the legislation say ending the seasonal time changes would create greater consistency for families and businesses, reduce disruptions to daily routines and provide more usable daylight after work and school.

Opponents have raised concerns about the possibility of darker winter mornings, particularly for children traveling to school and workers commuting before sunrise. (AP News)

What happens next?

The legislation has not yet become law. It must also be approved by the U.S. Senate before it can be sent to the president for consideration. The White House has expressed support for the proposal, but its future in the Senate remains uncertain.

What would this mean for Arizona?

Most of Arizona already remains on Mountain Standard Time throughout the year and does not participate in the seasonal clock changes. The legislation allows states to opt out of permanent daylight saving time, meaning the House vote does not create an immediate time change for Arizona residents.

For now, nothing changes. Most Americans will continue adjusting their clocks twice each year unless the legislation receives final approval and is signed into law.

What state are you in? Would this bill disrupt your daily routine between “fall back” time and “spring forward” time? Would you support ending the twice-yearly clock changes, or would you prefer to keep the current system?
