🚨 TWO INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED DURING SWAT MISSION IN HEREFORD 🚨

The Sierra Vista Police Department announced Wednesday that two individuals were taken into custody during a SWAT operation carried out in Hereford Tuesday evening.

According to the Sierra Vista Police Department, the Cochise County Regional SWAT Team responded to the 7300 block of Lariat Road on May 19 at approximately 5:30 p.m. to serve arrest warrants on two individuals identified as Fabian Barquez-Martinez, 32, and Ayla Adams, 21.

SVPD stated that investigators elected to utilize the SWAT team and issue a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents due to safety concerns and one of the suspect’s prior history of fleeing from law enforcement.

The Sierra Vista Police Department stated in its press release:

“Due to an abundance of caution and one of the individual’s history of fleeing from law enforcement, investigators chose to use the SWAT team and issue a shelter in place to the immediate area during the operation.”

According to police, both individuals complied with commands and surrendered peacefully during the mission. Authorities say the shelter-in-place order was lifted once both individuals were safely in custody.

According to information released by SVPD:

- Unlawful Imprisonment

LIVE FROM COCHISE COUNTY COURTHOUSE BISBEE AZ.

State of Arizona vs Paul Correa Case

In today's hearing the judge reviewed and accepted the state plea agreement with Paul Correa. Judge Henry Whitmer of Yavapai then stated July 14th 2pm for official sentancing of Correra. Correa pleaded guilty to evidence tampering with all other sex related charges dropped.

Could face up to two years in jail and a probation period all at the discretion of the judge. (ARS Code 13-2809)

The family made an emotional plea to the judge to not accept the plea agreement as they felt it was not a strong enough punishment overall for his actions.

Dozens of members of the community showed up with signs and hugs of support today for the Greer Family in their efforts to ensure justice is done in this case involving forner Cochise County Attorney Paul Correa at the Cochise County Courthouse in Bisbee Arizona Tuesday.

According to a public statement released by Stacey Greer, the family had been informed that Correa intends to accept a plea agreement that would reportedly dismiss charges of public sexual indecency and harassment by surveillance involving a minor in exchange for a guilty plea to tampering with evidence.

In the statement, the family expressed disappointment with the reported plea agreement outcome and is asking the community to peacefully and respectfully attend the hearing in support of victims, children, and accountability within the community.

“Our daughter was brave enough to speak up,” the statement reads. “We are asking our community to be just as brave in standing beside victims, supporting children, and showing that Sierra Vista will not look the other way.”

The family emphasized that they understand plea agreements are part of the legal process, but believe community presence and support remain important when cases involving children and positions of public trust arise.

Correa was charged with public sexual indecency after being accused of filming a minor in a Sierra Vista Target store and then watching the video in the parking lot with his “pants disheveled.”

The SVPD responded to a call of disorderly conduct when the father of that minor approached Correa while he was sitting in his car.

The officer noted that as he went to speak with Correa, he “immediately started to manipulate the waistband of his pants.”

The hearing was at Cochise County Courthouse Bisbee AZ
📅 Tuesday, May 19
🕑 2:00 PM

TO CLARIFY MORE ON THIS CASE....

Paul Correa was charged by a Cochise County Grand Jury indictment with 3 specific crimes related to his conduct inside and outside the Target store in Sierra Vista on Dec. 17, 2025.

COUNT 1 Harassment by surveillance of a minor with sexual motivation. It is a Class 1 MISDEMEANOR and an offense which has been difficult to prosecute in other jurisdictions due to questions about what actually constitutes harassment.

COUNT 2 Public Sexual Indecency is also a Class 1 MISDEMEANOR because the named victim is an adult (the child’s father). The statute states the person engaged in “an act of sexual contact” while “in the presence” of another person. Yet Correa was alone in his vehicle in the parking lot when the father approached the car. The father said he assumed Correa was masturbating while watching a video of the young girl but the father admitted never seeing Correa’s genitalia.

COUNT 3 Tampering with Physical Evidence is a class 6 FELONY. It alleges Correa “did destroy, mutilate, alter, conceal or remove” videos and photographs from his cellphone “with the intent to impair evidence…availability.” This is the charge Correa is reportedly pleading guilty to as SVPD Det. Ransford proved files known to have been recorded on Correa’s phone Dec. 17 were deleted before Correa’s arrest on Dec. 18.

The grand jury did NOT charge Correa with Indecent Exposure, which is when genitalia is actually exposed to someone.

Lori Zucco Cochise County Attorney was not the one who decided on the actual charges and is NOT the acting attorney in this case due to conflicts of interest. Evidence was given to the grand jury and they decided what charges had enough evidence to move forward in this case. From Lori Zucco: "I am not prosecuting the case. We conflicted off the case before he was even arrested. I reached out to the APAAC Executive Director the morning after the incident who arranged for La Paz County Attorney to handle it and I have been conflicted off of it ever since"

Judge Henry Whitmer of Yavapai County was the presiding judge.

As with all criminal proceedings, all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

‼️STATEMENT REGA

‼️STATEMENT REGARDING STATE v. CORREA ‼️

The following is the full statement released by the Cochise County Attorney's Office regarding State v. Correa:

“County Attorney Lori Zucco and the Cochise County Attorney’s Office recused themselves from the prosecution of Paul Correa immediately following the incident at Target. Before Mr. Correa was arrested or formally charged, County Attorney Zucco contacted Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys’ Advisory Council (APAAC) Executive Director Elizabeth Ortiz to arrange the appointment of conflict counsel due to the unique circumstances of the case, the importance of maintaining the highest ethical standards, and the need to avoid any appearance of impropriety.

Ms. Ortiz subsequently contacted La Paz County Attorney Rachel Shackelford, who agreed to personally handle the prosecution. We are grateful to Ms. Shackelford for her professionalism, experience, and willingness to assist in this matter.

Because the case remains pending, ethical obligations prevent further comment regarding the prosecution of Mr. Correa at this time.

County Attorney Zucco terminated Mr. Correa’s employment immediately upon his arrest. She also extends her deepest sympathy and respect to the victim and her family.”

🚨 COMMUNITY ASKED

🚨 COMMUNITY ASKED TO HELP LOCATE MISSING JUVENILES IN SIERRA VISTA 🚨

A local family is urgently asking for the community’s help in locating missing juvenile Malachi Worley and missing juvenile Lee Ann Marie O’Connor.

According to the family, Lee Ann reportedly arrived near the area of Nelson Drive and East James Drive around 1 a.m. on May 17. The family believes both juveniles then left the area together and may have entered a white or silver vehicle heading toward 7th Street.

The family is asking residents in the surrounding area of James Drive to please check any home surveillance or camera footage between approximately 12 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.

Investigators have reportedly reviewed limited nearby footage, but the video quality was too dark and blurry to positively identify the vehicle involved.

Witness information provided to the family reportedly described:
• A white vehicle seen in the area
• Possible involvement of two vehicles
• One described as an older sports-style Saturn or Pontiac-type vehicle
• Another described as a newer silver vehicle, possibly resembling a Hyundai Elantra

Lee Ann was reportedly last seen wearing all black clothing with a black hoodie. Malachi was also reportedly wearing black clothing when he left the residence.

The family says it is extremely important that Malachi returns home safely due to serious medical needs, including a required open-heart surgery procedure before August 6, 2027.

Anyone with information, surveillance footage, or possible sightings is encouraged to contact local law enforcement immediately or reach out to the family directly if appropriate.

Please help share this post to help bring these juveniles home safely.

💙🚓 LOCAL 2ND G

💙🚓 LOCAL 2ND GRADER HONORED WITH SPECIAL RIDE TO SCHOOL 🚓💙

A special morning was made even more memorable for one young student in Sierra Vista this week.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff Sheriff Mark Dannels and Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS Sierra Vista Police Chief Chris Hiser personally picked up Newt, a 2nd grader at PDS School, from his home before heading off to start the school day.

But first — an important stop for chocolate milk.

The heartwarming gesture was part of recognizing a local student for doing great things at school and serving as a positive example in the community.

Moments like these remind us how meaningful it can be when local leaders take the time to encourage and uplift the next generation. Building positive connections with children and recognizing their achievements helps strengthen the bond between our community and those who serve it.

Great job, Newt — Cochise County is proud of you!
