The world is saying goodbye to one of its most beloved voices.

Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy built not only through music, but through kindness, generosity, humor and a genuine love for people. Her death was announced Tuesday, August 25.

Born into humble beginnings in the mountains of East Tennessee, Dolly went on to become one of the most recognizable and influential entertainers of all time. Her songs told stories of love, heartbreak, determination and hope — and connected with generations of people around the world.

From “Jolene” and “9 to 5” to the timeless “I Will Always Love You,” her music became part of the soundtrack of countless lives. Her remarkable career brought her 11 Grammy Awards, numerous other honors, success on the big screen and a place among country music’s greatest artists.

But perhaps what made Dolly so deeply loved was who she was beyond the stage.

She never forgot where she came from. Through decades of philanthropy, she championed children, literacy, education and communities in need. She had an incredible ability to make people smile while reminding us that kindness, compassion and a little laughter can go a long way.

For so many, Dolly Parton felt like more than a celebrity. She felt familiar — like someone who had always been there.

Her unmistakable voice may now be silent, but the songs, the laughter, the generosity and the countless lives she touched will continue for generations.

Thank you for the music. Thank you for the memories. And most of all, thank you for reminding the world to lead with a little more kindness.

⚠️ HEALTH NOTICE: HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE CASES REPORTED AT BENSON SCHOOLS

BENSON, Ariz. — Benson Unified School District #9 is notifying parents and guardians that cases of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) have been reported within Benson Schools.

HFMD is a common viral illness that primarily affects infants and young children, although older children and adults can also become infected. According to the district, symptoms are typically mild but the illness can spread easily in group settings such as schools and childcare facilities.

Common symptoms may include:
• Fever of 100.4°F or higher
• Decreased appetite
• Increased irritability or tiredness
• Sore throat
• Blisters or sores in the mouth, hands and feet

HFMD can spread through fluids from the nose and throat, fluid from blisters and stool from an infected person. It may also spread through coughing, sneezing, contaminated surfaces and close contact.

The district is encouraging families to help limit the spread by:
• Washing hands frequently with soap and water
• Cleaning and disinfecting shared surfaces and toys
• Avoiding sharing cups, utensils, food and personal items
• Covering coughs and sneezes and washing hands afterward
• Keeping children home if they have a fever or open blisters

The district says children may return to school or childcare once they have been fever-free for a full 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, do not have uncontrolled drooling from mouth sores and have no open or weeping blisters.

Parents are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider if a child cannot drink enough fluids due to mouth sores, shows signs of dehydration, becomes unusually irritable or difficult to console, is difficult to wake, or experiences a high or prolonged fever or other concerning symptoms.

Benson Schools says there is currently no vaccine available to prevent HFMD and thanked families for helping keep students and staff healthy.

NEW DETAILS: TUCSON POLICE RECRUIT WAS FIGHTING MASKED HOME INVADERS WHEN SHOT‼️

TUCSON, Ariz. — New information is providing a clearer picture of what happened inside the home of 23-year-old Tucson Police recruit Carlos Ramirez before he was shot and killed.

According to newly released court documents, Ramirez’s fiancée told investigators she heard banging outside their bedroom during the early morning hours of August 19. Ramirez entered the bedroom and told her two masked men were inside their home before reportedly confronting and fighting the intruders.

During the struggle, gunfire erupted.

Ramirez was shot in the chest and died from his injuries. His 23-year-old fiancée, a Pima County corrections officer, was shot in the shoulder. She and her unborn baby survived.

Investigators say surveillance footage captured a gray SUV in Ramirez’s neighborhood before the shooting. Additional video and visible tattoos reportedly helped detectives identify 39-year-old Santiago Jorge Rogers, who was later arrested by a SWAT team.

UPDATE: 33-year-old Alex James Barnett has now been caught in a SWAT operation on Monday August 24th. He was wanted on a first-degree murder warrant as investigators continue working to determine everyone involved in the deadly home invasion.

Ramirez previously served as a corrections officer before entering the Tucson Police Academy and was scheduled to graduate August 27 — just days after his death.

The investigation remains active. CoolFMLive will continue following this case and provide updates as additional confirmed information becomes available.

Gloria Olson, one of the owners of Wicked Limitz, is currently battling Stage 4 peritoneal cancer. According to a GoFundMe organized by her daughter, Krista York, Gloria was diagnosed in February 2026 and is now facing an aggressive fight that requires her to travel out of state for treatment.

For many in Sierra Vista, Gloria and her family are familiar faces. Beyond their local business, Gloria has dedicated countless hours to helping others through A Tree 4 Christmas, an effort that has helped hundreds of families during the holiday season. Now, after years of showing up for others, her family is asking the community to show up for her. ❤️

Gloria’s husband, Rod, has stepped into the role of her primary caretaker and is staying by her side throughout this journey. The family says the costs associated with out-of-state treatment — including medical expenses, travel, lodging and everyday needs — have created a significant financial burden.

A GoFundMe has been established to help Gloria and Rod as they navigate the road ahead.

Every contribution can make a difference, but support doesn’t have to come only through a donation. Sharing Gloria’s story, offering words of encouragement and keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers can mean just as much.
