**UPDATE: New information has been released following last night’s serious crash on State Route 90.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 9:09 PM on April 27 near milepost 307. The incident involved a wrong-way driver, resulting in a head-on collision between two vehicles.
Investigators report that a Toyota Venza was traveling northbound in the southbound lane when it struck a Jeep Liberty head-on.
• The driver of the Toyota Venza was airlifted to a hospital in Tucson
• The driver of the Jeep Liberty was transported by ground ambulance to a hospital in Sierra Vista
• Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles
Officials have confirmed that the driver of the Jeep Liberty sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Authorities state they intend to pursue long-form charges against the at-fault driver once he is released from the hospital.
The investigation remains ongoing.

A vehicle collision with injuries was reported at milepost 307 on Highway 90 at approximately 9:10 PM Monday night. Southbound traffic is currently being redirected as emergency crews work the scene.
One person has been transported by helicopter to Banner University Medical Center in Tucson. One person also transferred to Canyon Vista in Sierra Vista. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to avoid the area if possible.”
⚠️ Witness Report of Wrong Way Driver ⚠️
A driver traveling through the area reported encountering a wrong way vehicle about 2 miles before the Highway 90/82 intersection. The driver narrowly avoided a head on collision and immediately called 911. She believes the vehicle she encountered is involved in this collision.

Triangle 2 Fire has reached 50% containment. Crews remain on scene to continue with mop up operations to address pockets of heat that could pose a threat to containment lines.
The Triangle Fire has been renamed to Triangle 2 Fire. Crews were able to stop forward progress this morning after working through the night, bringing the fire to 23 acres. Crews remaining onscene include 2 handcrews, 3 engines and miscellaneous overhead from DFFM and Sunsites-Pearce Fire District.

** Dragoon Road is closed and exits off of Interstate 10 are closed as well.**
Emergency crews are actively responding to a new wildfire start in Cochise County.
The Triangle Fire is currently estimated at 10 acres and is moving through grass and brush, creating potential for rapid spread due to fuels in the area.
Approximately 13 miles east of Benson,
south of I-10 and about 2 miles southwest of the Texas Canyon Rest Area
Resources on scene:
• DFFM Engine 631 and additional overhead personnel
• Air Attack
• 4 SEATs (Single Engine Air Tankers)
Crews are working both ground and air operations to contain the fire as it moves through vegetation.
