A proposed Whataburger restaurant with a drive-thru may be coming to Sierra Vista, according to documents submitted to the City of Sierra Vista.
CoolFMLive has learned that Sierra Vista Custard Realty LLC has submitted a site plan application to the City for review for a proposed Whataburger restaurant at 572 N. Arizona State Highway 90 Bypass, located in front of Walmart and adjacent to Panda Express.
CoolFMLive spoke with the City of Sierra Vista’s Public Information Officer, who confirmed that the application and supporting documents are currently under review by City staff.
At this time, the project has not been approved by the City of Sierra Vista. The submitted site plan, along with all other required documents, permits, and reviews, must complete the City’s review process before any approvals can be considered.
The official status of the proposed development is currently under review.
As with any proposed development, plans and timelines remain subject to City review, revisions, and approval requirements.

Residents of Cochise County will have an opportunity to meet and learn more about Arizona Attorney General candidate Rodney Glassman during an upcoming campaign event in Sierra Vista.
Supporters and community members are invited to attend a fundraising meet-and-greet on Friday, June 19, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Vinny’s New York Pizza, located at 1977 S. Frontage Road.
The event is being hosted by MSG Jack Dona (Retired), founder of the CONELRAD Group think tank, and is intended to provide attendees with an opportunity to hear directly from Glassman, ask questions, and learn more about his vision and priorities for Arizona.
According to campaign materials, Glassman currently serves as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps Reserve and is Of Counsel with the Slaviscek Law Firm. He lives in Phoenix with his wife, Sasha, and their two daughters.
Organizers encourage those interested in meeting the candidate and becoming more involved in the political process to attend. RSVP information is included on the event invitation.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Donna Laffey Isler 🕊️
Donna Laffey Isler was born on November 1, 1944, in Orlando, Florida to James and Jeanette Laffey of Ocala, Florida. She was raised in Ocala and graduated from Ocala High School in 1962.
Donna continued her education at St. Leo College in St. Leo, Florida, before relocating to New York City in 1964. In New York, she secured a position as secretary to the personnel director at NBC Studios at 30 Rockefeller Center, where she had the opportunity to meet several notable figures.
Among the distinguished individuals Donna encountered was Elvis Presley, who recognized her from their previous meeting in Ocala in 1961 during the filming of "Follow That Dream."
Later, Donna returned to Florida and joined NASA at Cape Canaveral as an engineering secretary, contributing to both the Gemini and Apollo programs. During her tenure, she met numerous astronauts, including Neil Armstrong, Gus Grissom, John Young, Buzz Aldrin, and James Lovell.
Following her time at NASA, Donna met all security requirements to serve as a document, physical, and personnel security professional on various engineering programs at Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida. She dedicated many years to Harris while balancing her responsibilities as a single mother to her daughters, Crystal and Jennifer.
In 1987, Donna relocated with Crystal and Jennifer to El Segundo, California, to continue her career in security with Ultra Systems in Redondo Beach. Settling into their new life on the West Coast, Donna and her daughters quickly adapted to their community.
That same year, Donna met then Army Captain Jack Isler, whom she later married on April 15, 1989, in a ceremony held in the gazebo in El Segundo. Notably, while Jack retained an Army Top Secret SCI Secret clearance, Donna held multiple Top Secret clearances, including polygraph certifications, with the Air Force and other 3 letter federal agencies.
Throughout their 37-year marriage, Donna, Jack, and the family traveled extensively, residing in Maxwell AFB, Alabama, returning to El Segundo, then moving to Fort Hood, Texas, the Presidio of Monterey, California, and Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Donna took great pride in her daughters' accomplishments, ensuring they completed their college education and were equipped for success. She is survived by her husband, LTC (R) Jack; her daughters, Crystal Anderson (Justin) and Jennifer Snowe (Paul Valadao); and four grandchildren: Colin and Callie Colfer of Niceville, Florida, and Charles and Samuel Valadao of San Luis Obispo, California.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Michael, Mathew, and David.

🚨MALL BOMB THREAT🚨
**UPDATE: Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS
At around 3:30 p.m. Sierra Vista Police Department responded to bomb threats called into Cool Cuts and The Mall at Sierra Vista.
Due to an abundance of caution, both locations were evacuated, while the information was investigated.
Ft. Huachuca K9s responded and checked the area at the mall and it has been reopened for business. It was determined there was also no threat at Cool Cuts location. The incident has been resolved but is still under investigation.
There is no further information available at this time.
There is no threat to the public at this time.
Sierra Vista Police are investigating a bomb threat made at the Mall at Sierra Vista. At this time, there have been no suspicious devices located inside the mall, but due to caution for public safety, it is being evacuated at this time. The mall is on a hard closure till police deem safe. K9’s from Ft. Huachuca are en route. It appears Cool Cuts and SEACOM dispatch center was also threatened in reports so far.
Southwest Cancer Center is currently under a shelter in place with patients and employees inside
Avoid the area while the investigation is underway.

⚠️ NORTHWEST SIERRA VISTA POWER OUTAGE ⚠️
**UPDATE: POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED**
If your power is currently out in the northwest portion of Sierra Vista, SSVEC has provided additional information regarding the outage.
Think of it like going to the doctor for a routine SSVEC checkup. Sometimes everything looks good, but occasionally the doctor discovers an issue that requires immediate attention and even emergency surgery to prevent a bigger problem down the road.
According to information provided at the scene, SSVEC crews were conducting a status check of a local substation when they discovered a component requiring immediate repair. Specifically, crews identified a faulty regulator — an important piece of equipment that helps deliver reliable power to homes and businesses.
To safely perform the necessary repairs, crews made the decision to take the substation offline, resulting in the current outage affecting portions of northwest Sierra Vista.
While the exact number of customers impacted is unknown at this time, crews are actively working to complete the repairs and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
Current estimates indicate the outage could continue for several more hours while repairs are completed.
Although unexpected outages are inconvenient, these proactive repairs help reduce the risk of larger outages in the future and help ensure the electrical system continues operating safely and reliably.

‼️MORE DETAILS RELEASED IN DEPUTY-INVOLVED CRASH ‼️
CoolFMLive has obtained additional records and information regarding the February 24, 2026, crash involving Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Bradley Eller in Sierra Vista.
According to a traffic citation obtained by CoolFMLive from the Sierra Vista Police Department, Deputy Eller was traveling approximately 91 mph westbound on Fry Boulevard in a posted 35 mph zone at the time of the collision.
Court records indicate Deputy Eller completed a traffic survival course in connection with the citation and did not receive any monetary fines.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight near the Denny’s restaurant on Fry Boulevard. Investigators previously reported that Deputy Eller was responding to assist the Sierra Vista Police Department on a burglary call and was not operating emergency lights or a siren at the time of the collision.
CoolFMLive also requested an update from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office regarding the administrative review of the incident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office:
• Deputy Eller received a 40-hour suspension without pay.
• Deputy Eller has returned to full duty and field operations.
• The Sheriff’s Office stated there is no additional information being released regarding the case at this time.
The other driver involved, 26-year-old Jon McAdory, was previously reported by investigators to have a blood alcohol concentration of .222, nearly three times Arizona’s legal limit of .08. According to the police report, McAdory was cited for Felony Aggravated Assault, DUI, and Failure to Yield.
According to the official summons with charges listed, the Felony Aggravated Assault, open container, and failure to yield charges have been dropped from McAdory’s charges. He could however face up to three separate DUI-related charges as the case moves through the court process.
Both individuals sustained minor injuries and were released following the crash.

He was found as a stray near the Nogales Port of Entry, happily approaching people in hopes that someone would take him home. Instead, he found himself in rescue care. Now, he’s ready for a brand-new beginning.
