⚠️ Parker Canyon Lake Suspends Boat Rentals Due to Low Water Levels

Visitors planning a trip to Parker Canyon Lake should be aware of a temporary change in services.

Due to low water levels, boat rentals are currently unavailable and will remain suspended until the lake level rises to a safe operating level. Lake officials appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as they monitor conditions.

The good news is that the lake remains open for recreation:

* The boat ramp is open for those bringing their own watercraft.
* The lake store is open, offering cold drinks, snacks, and other essentials for visitors enjoying a day at the lake.

Officials will continue to monitor water levels and will announce when boat rentals are able to resume.

Good morning, Cochise County!

We’re looking at another active monsoon day across southeastern Arizona, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected to develop through the afternoon and evening hours.

Today’s storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas, washes, and locations that have received recent rainfall. If you encounter a flooded roadway, remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

In addition to heavy rain, slightly drier air in the middle levels of the atmosphere may increase the potential for strong downburst winds, meaning some storms could produce sudden wind gusts capable of blowing dust, reducing visibility, and causing isolated tree damage or power outages.

• Heavy rainfall
• Localized flash flooding
• Strong downburst winds
• Frequent lightning
• Brief periods of reduced visibility from blowing dust and heavy rain

The monsoon pattern remains firmly in place, with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms continuing throughout the week. Forecast guidance indicates an increase in storm coverage and intensity on Thursday and Friday, so be prepared for more widespread monsoon activity as the week progresses.

‼️DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY AFTER TWO FOUND DECEASED IN SIERRA VISTA HOME‼️

The Sierra Vista Police Department is investigating after two individuals were found deceased during a welfare check Sunday evening.

According to SVPD, officers responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, to the 2300 block of Locksley Drive in Winterhaven after a concerned citizen reported they had been unable to contact the home’s residents for several days.

When officers arrived, they discovered two deceased individuals inside the residence. Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.

While the incident is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, authorities have not officially confirmed the cause or manner of death. Next of kin notifications are still pending.

SVPD has stated that there are no outstanding suspects and there is no threat to public safety related to this incident.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

‼️ HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN BISBEE; SUSPECT ARRESTED ‼️

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday evening in Bisbee. The following information has been released by the Sheriff’s Office:

“On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 7:55 pm, the Bisbee Police Department was contacted regarding a possible dead body in or near a homeless camp south of Highway 92 behind a local business center.

Bisbee officers responded and conducted a search of the area and ultimately located a camping space with a tent and other living items surrounding it, while also locating what appeared to be a deceased male subject.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office responded to conduct the death investigation, which was preliminarily identified as a homicide which has now been confirmed.

During the initial investigation, we conducted multiple interviews and identified the camp resident/suspect in the incident.

An attempt to locate was issued for the suspect, who was ultimately contacted by Bisbee Police Department officers at 11:13 pm in a residential neighborhood in Bisbee. The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Miklejon Nelson, homeless.

Nelson was booked into the Cochise County Jail on a murder charge and is currently being held without bail. The identification of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

This investigation is being conducted by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.”

As with all criminal cases, the charge against the suspect is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Emergency crews are responding to a single-vehicle rollover near Milepost 337 on Highway 80.

According to initial information, the vehicle is on its side. One patient has been reported and is currently classified as green, indicating they are ambulatory with what appear to be minor injuries.

Motorists traveling through the area should use caution, reduce speed, and watch for emergency personnel and equipment on or near the roadway. Traffic may be impacted while first responders work to secure the scene.

3:17pm - UPDATE - All power restored.

Crews have identified the cause of the outage as a transformer lockout. This means protective equipment automatically disconnected the transformer after detecting an abnormal electrical condition. This safety feature helps protect the electrical system and prevent additional damage. In short, the system worked as it should and protected the grid.

Our crews are on site investigating the cause, making any necessary repairs, and have restored most power. Other location restorations are in progress.
